day 1. singapore trip video edits
i’m excited to start editing the singapore trip video clips, but like writing, i’m at risk for waiting for the muse to hit. or to reach the point at which i get the ‘groove’ which for me happens after the first big ‘starting pains’ hump at the beginning. the fcp interface is an intuitive language that i’m used to navigating, but the after effects cs5 language is a whole level of complexity entirely. the program is ridiculously powerful.
at first, i was set on doing a few simple effects (slowing a 60 fps clip to 30 or 24 fps, adding kinetic typography) but i soon realized that i was way in over my head trying to execute this on AE. so i left that endeavor and decided to do some cold cut-and-paste edits on FCP. but even this is difficult. i think i have over 500 clips, consolidating 25 events/locations of our trip in singapore. O_O
yeah. meanwhile, kurosawa’s seven samurai plays in the background.
